Please check whether the WITHBOX device is properly connected to a wired network or if the WiFi is correctly configured.

3.3.2 Introduction to WITHBOX P2P Connection Mode

WITHBOX now supports P2P connection mode, providing users with stable, secure, and convenient remote access capabilities. Compared to public IP access methods, P2P mode eliminates the need to configure router port forwarding or apply for DDNS services, significantly lowering the barrier to use.

1. What is P2P Connection Mode?

1) P2P (Peer-to-Peer) connection mode is a point-to-point network communication method. The system can utilize WITHBOX's relay servers and the user's own IPv6 network to assist with NAT traversal, establishing a direct communication channel between the WITHBOX device and the client.

1. Connection Principle

When a user remotely accesses a WITHBOX device through the client, the system automatically evaluates whether the conditions for establishing a P2P direct connection are met, based on the current network environments of both the user and the WITHBOX device:

The network used by WITHBOX supports public IPv6.

IPv6 support has been enabled on the WITHBOX device;

The remote client is operating in an IPv6 network environment;

In such cases, the WITHBOX service coordinates the connection establishment process via the Device ID (i.e., the device's unique identifier), ultimately creating a high-speed point-to-point IPv6 tunnel without relying on public IPv4 or port forwarding, thereby achieving true P2P direct access.

1. Usage Scenario Example

Deploy the WITHBOX device at home, with the router network having IPv6 enabled.

Access WITHBOX via a 5G network while away from home;

Both devices support and have enabled IPv6;

Log in to the device ID through the WITHBOX client to establish the P2P tunnel, enabling file management, upload/download, photo browsing, and other operations.

1. Features and Advantages of P2P Connection Mode

Zero Configuration

No port forwarding or DDNS configuration required; simple and easy to use.

High Compatibility

Automatically adapts to IPv6 network environments.

Enhanced Security

All communications are encrypted via TLS, ensuring secure and reliable data transmission.

Improved Efficiency

When conditions are met, a direct connection is established, and bandwidth is not limited by relay servers.

Multi-Platform Support

Mobile App, PC client, and Web interface all support P2P connections.

1. Supplementary Notes

If either the WITHBOX client or the WITHBOX device lacks an IPv6 environment, the system will automatically attempt to establish a P2P connection via relay methods. If a direct connection still cannot be established, the system will automatically fall back to the WITHBOX relay server channel;

Access under relay mode remains secure, though the speed may be slightly lower than a direct connection;

Users can determine whether a P2P direct connection has been established through the client status indicator (e.g., the WiFi icon shows two signal bars).
